“We rented the cottage for three months whilst our own cottage was being restored. We were made welcome and Philip and his wife were most concerned for our comfort. Flower filled fields … change from white to yellow to blue as the weeks pass. On a wet day, light the log fire and enjoy a quiet day with a good book and a bottle of local wine. For an escape from urban life this is a place to visit and probably return to again and again.”

Herdade da Maroteira is a perfect retreat from modern living. ... situated in one of the most unspoilt areas of Portugal. Whilst there is a wealth of cultural and scenic sights to explore, at the end of the day the urge to come back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the farm proved much stronger.
